Volunteer With SafeRide Hawaii
SafeRide Hawaii is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to eliminate impaired driving through education, advocacy, outreach, and a service that takes impaired drivers and their vehicles home safely. We take people who've been drinking home safely, and their car too, so there's no excuse left to get behind the wheel.
None of it happens without volunteers. If you want volunteer work where the impact is obvious the same night you show up, this is it.

What volunteering with SafeRide Hawaii looks like
You pick the volunteer position that fit your life: event staff, adminitstrative support, or being a driver. SafeRide Hawaii has tables at festivals, UH games, concerts, company celebrations, and holiday parties which you can be a part of. We provide the training, the SafeRide Hawaii shirt, and a team around you. You bring your positive attitude and a good heart!
Ways to help

Lead Driver. Drive guests home in their own car, with a partner following behind. A clean driving record is required.

Escort Driver. Follow the guest's car and bring your partner back. Every ride is a two-person team, so nobody's ever out there alone.

Event Support. Run the booth, talk story with attendees, and help guests book rides.

Behind the scenes. Ride coordination, admin, social media, and website help.
Not sure about driving? Start in a support role. We cover the background check for every driving volunteer, including the driving record check.
Be part of something bigger
SafeRide Hawaii is a two-time NHTSA grant recipient, working in close partnership with the Hawaii Department of Transportation, and supported by donations and sponsorships too. We're also part of a national SafeRide network. Our partner chapters in Frederick, Maryland, and Atlanta, Georgia, have been building this model since 2015, together taking over 35,000 people and their cars home safely. We're proud to bring it home to Hawaii.
